Executive teams are unique in that their
work occurs in a far more complex, strategic, and political environment
than most other teams. Because of this, executive team development is
a highly specialized consulting area and involves a deep understanding
of the organization's strategic issues and the specific roles and relationships
between and among members of the senior team. In addition to fostering
collaboration and respect, executive team development also focuses on
identified executive team needs — for example, organizational
vision, strategy development, culture change, the role of the executive
team, individual roles within the organization, cooperation and coordination
between and among work units, and leadership.
The Enneagram system is introduced during in-depth individual interviews
prior to an executive retreat. At the retreat, the system is used as
a framework for helping the senior team members to improve their understanding
of themselves and each other, to increase their ability to work together
as a senior leadership team, to better understand their various perspectives
on leadership, and to assess the organizational culture. Organization
development theories and processes are also utilized to assist the senior
team in accomplishing its strategic and operational objectives.
